Polyurea Spray Machine

In the field of industrial coatings, polyurea materials are becoming the first choice for waterproofing, anticorrosion and wear-resistant projects due to their excellent physical and chemical properties and wide range of application scenarios. From the long-lasting anticorrosion of bridge steel structure, waterproofing and seepage prevention of underground engineering, to the upgrading of bullet-proof equipment and vehicle protection, polyurea spraying technology has become an important tool for engineering protection construction by virtue of its fast curing, high elasticity and weather resistance. The polyurea spraying equipment has higher performance requirements, the minimum pressure should reach 2000psi, the temperature should reach 80 degrees, we provide high-pressure polyurea spraying machine, the machine covers a large hydraulic polyurea spraying machine, small hydraulic polyurea spraying machine and electric polyurea spraying machine, can meet the use of can't condition requirements!

Polyurea spray machines and polyurethane spray machines may look similar in appearance, but because polyurea reacts quickly and requires high heating temperature, higher heating capacity and greater spray pressure are needed. For this reason, polyurea spray machines are often called high-performance spray equipment. Based on this, we have abandoned low-end pneumatic spray machines and developed high-performance electric and hydraulic spray equipment. Whether for highway protection or roof waterproofing, we have different models to meet the demand. Among them, the polyurea spray machine with material barrels, E10Hp, has become the first choice of many customers in the waterproofing field.

Features of Polyurea Spray Machines

The biggest feature of polyurea spray machines is that their heating temperature and spray pressure requirements are far higher than ordinary polyurethane spray equipment.

The chemical reaction of polyurea is extremely fast, forming a film within seconds. In order for the A and B components to fully mix and atomize evenly in a short time, the machine must have a high-temperature heating system and a high-pressure proportioning pump system.

High Temperature Requirement

The viscosity of polyurea raw materials is higher than polyurethane. If the temperature is insufficient, the material has poor flowability, leading to uneven spraying, poor mixing, or rough surfaces.
Therefore, polyurea spray machines usually heat components A and B to 70~80°C to ensure:

  • Materials maintain good flowability;

  • Spray ratio is stable and mixing is complete;

  • Film forms evenly and the surface is dense.

High Pressure Requirement

Polyurea reacts almost instantaneously after spraying. If the pressure is insufficient, A and B components cannot fully collide and mix in the mixing chamber, which will lead to uneven curing, bubbling, or poor adhesion.
Therefore, polyurea spray machines generally adopt high-pressure systems above 2000 psi to ensure:

  • Fine atomization and thorough mixing of materials;

  • Dense spray layer with strong adhesion;

  • Continuous and stable spraying process.

In summary, polyurea spray machines usually have high heating temperature, high spray pressure, fast reaction, rapid curing, and strong equipment stability.
With the dual ability of high temperature + high pressure, polyurea spray machines are called high-performance polyurea spray machines and are an irreplaceable core equipment in modern waterproofing and anti-corrosion construction.

Differences Between Polyurea and Polyurethane Spray Machines

Many first-time polyurea construction personnel ask: “Can I use a foam spray machine to spray polyurea?”
In theory, it is barely possible; but in practical application, it is almost impossible to achieve ideal results.

Polyurethane material reacts more slowly, pressure is generally 2000 psi, heating temperature 40~70°C, and the pressure requirement is not high. Common pneumatic machines can already handle this. Polyurea reacts almost instantly, and if the heating or pressure is insufficient, the sprayed material cannot fully mix, causing foaming, cracking, or delamination.

Therefore, we replace pneumatic machines with electric spray machines that have higher pressure and faster heating, providing more stable pressure and better results.

Polyurea spraying usually works best with AP spray guns, which allow full collision and mixing in the mixing chamber. Fan-shaped nozzles achieve better atomization. Polyurethane spray machines have lower spray gun requirements; ordinary P2 spray guns can work well.

How to Choose a Polyurea Spray Machine

There are many models of polyurea spray equipment on the market, with pneumatic and hydraulic types being the most common. To find a machine suitable for you, you must consider the construction scale, output pressure, heating temperature, mixing ratio, and spray gun type.

  • Do not choose pneumatic machines.

  • It is recommended to select high-pressure spray equipment over 2000 psi and heating above 70°C.

For small-scale, portable work, you can choose our E2mini small electric spray machine. It has high pressure and stable operation, and is a perfect replacement for pneumatic machines. Only a 30 kW generator and a small air compressor are needed. Suitable for highway waterproofing and anti-corrosion projects.

For medium and small-scale polyurea waterproofing construction, you can choose FD-211A or FD-2E. Both have similar pressure, excellent performance, small size, portable, stable pressure, long continuous operation, and excellent atomization.

For large contractors, FD-511 is ideal. High pressure, large flow, stable output, can spray about 1000㎡ per day.

High-temperature and high-pressure operation requires very high equipment quality, especially seals, which are easily damaged under high temperature and pressure. Therefore, choosing a reliable manufacturer is particularly important. Our equipment uses US-imported seals, suitable for long-term operation, and provides spare consumables to ensure users have no worries.

Why We Abandoned Pneumatic Polyurea Spray Machines

In the early industry, pneumatic spray machines were popular because of low price and simple structure. But as polyurea construction demand grew, the shortcomings of pneumatic machines became more obvious:

  • Fluctuating air source causes unstable pressure;

  • Low heating efficiency causes uneven material temperature;

  • Frequent operation and maintenance;

These all make pneumatic machines unable to meet polyurea spraying tasks.

Therefore, we completely abandoned pneumatic spray equipment and focused on developing electric and hydraulic spray technology.

Electric polyurea spray machines have higher transmission efficiency and response speed, stable output pressure, constant A/B ratio. Electric heating system heats quickly, temperature control is precise, maintaining ideal material flow and reaction activity during spraying. Compared with pneumatic machines, electric spray machines are more energy-efficient, quieter, easier to maintain, and only require a small air compressor, suitable for medium and small waterproofing and insulation projects.

Hydraulic spray machines provide higher spray pressure (up to 3500 psi) and excellent stability, ensuring thorough atomization, dense coating, high flow, and high efficiency. Hydraulic drive also has strong durability and long continuous operation capability, especially suitable for mobile large-scale spraying.

Our polyurea spray machine series:

  • E2mini fits in a car trunk, convenient to use, more stable and higher flow than pneumatic machines;

  • FD-511 can be compared with Graco H-XP2, maximum output pressure 3500 psi, continuous operation for long hours, very suitable for polyurea spraying projects.

Polyurea Spraying Construction Precautions

To effectively control the quality of the sprayed protective system, the spray equipment must meet the following requirements: smooth material delivery, accurate metering, uniform mixing, good atomization, and easy cleaning. Auxiliary equipment includes compressors, refrigerated oil-water separators, and extended B-material mixers.

The spraying team should consist of equipment operators, spray gun operators, and assistants, with clear division of labor and good coordination.
Component A should be moisture-proof, kept dry; component B needs to be stirred for more than 30 minutes before spraying and continuously stirred during operation.
Before spraying, ensure the construction surface is clean, dry, and free of impurities. Spray complex areas first, then overall flat surfaces.

  • Spray gun distance should be 50~60 cm.

  • Spray thin first, then the next pass should cover more than half of the previous layer (“gun overlap”), ensuring uniform coating.

  • For insufficient thickness, spray in time, and thicken corners and nodes.

Construction key points:

  • Temperature control: Material and pipe temperature must be stable to prevent mixing ratio imbalance.

  • Accurate ratio: A/B ratio error exceeding ±2% will cause stickiness, cracking, or bubbling.

  • Spraying distance: Keep spray gun 50~70 cm from surface, vertical spraying to avoid uneven thickness.

  • Safety: Operators should wear protective clothing and respirators to avoid inhaling atomized particles.

  • Ventilation: Keep good ventilation, especially in enclosed spaces.

  • Equipment maintenance: Regularly clean spray gun, filters, proportioning pumps to prevent blockage or ratio deviation.
